GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

Gresham police said they have arrested the renter of a storage unit where the decomposed body of an 18-year-old woman was found.

Detectives arrested 56-year-old Ron Marcus just before noon Thursday. He is accused of killing Anisa Swearingen, whose body was found in one of the units at Money Saver Storage on Northeast Halsey Street on July 21.

The manager of the storage units made the discovery when he opened the storage unit because he could smell a foul odor coming from it.

Police soon identified Marcus as the renter of the storage unit and they took him into custody in north Portland.

Gresham police haven't released any other details about what led up to Swearingen's death.

The last time Swearingen was seen alive was July 12. Police believe Marcus is the last person to be seen with her and they're hoping to talk to anyone who may have seen either the suspect or the victim on July 12, or the suspect any time after that.

Anyone with information can call the police tip line at 503-618-2719.

A mug shot for Marcus was not immediately available. He is expected to be booked into jail later Thursday.
