Wallet goes missing after distracting conversation

BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

A woman found her wallet missing after a distracting conversation in Beaverton's T.J. Maxx.

The victim reported to police that while shopping in the T.J. Maxx store, a young woman struck up a conversation with her while shopping. At the time, she thought nothing of it and continued looking around the store.  But later, when trying to check out, she noticed that her wallet was gone.

After searching her home and car for the wallet, the victim called her bank and credit cards to report the disappearance.  But it was then that she realized it was a theft.  The victim's accounts had been very active since she realized they were missing.  They had been used at various stores in and around Washington Square, including The Apple Store, Nordstrom, Victoria's Secret and Best Buy.  The charges totaled $16,000.

While Beaverton police are investigating, the victim believes the young woman who engaged her in conversation at T.J. Maxx may be complicit in the crime.

Anyone with information on the identity of the individuals pictured here is asked to call the Beaverton Police Department at 503-629-0111.
