PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Police believe a 6-year-old Portland boy who was rushed to the hospital may have consumed methadone.
Emergency crews responded to 4435 S.E. Knapp St. at 11 a.m. to a report of a child not breathing.
Paramedics began live-saving measures and rushed him to Doernbecher Children's Hospital. He is now in the intensive care unit, but his condition is not known.
Child abuse detectives responded to the home to conduct an investigation.
Police said one of the parents is a recovering heroin addict, who had methadone in the house.
Officers are awaiting toxicology reports before they know for sure it was in the boy's system.
Methadone is typically prescribed for pain or to treat addiction to heroin or other opiates.
No one has been arrested at this point.
