PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
If $253 million happens to be your threshold for whether or not to play the lottery, it's time to buy a Powerball ticket.
The jackpot for Saturday's drawing surpassed $250 million Friday and Oregon Lottery representatives said it's still growing.
In the last 20 years, Oregon has had four Powerball jackpot winners, including the second-largest Powerball jackpot prize ever of $340 million. That was won by a Medford family in October 2005.
Other Oregon Powerball jackpot winners:
- The Givens family of Eugene, winners of a $38.4 million prize in October 1992
- Robin Powell of Beaverton, a $33.8 million winner in July 1999
- Dan Gannon of Milwaukie won a $182.7 million jackpot in March 2007
Saturday's drawing takes place at 7:59 p.m.
Five white balls are drawn from one set of 59 numbered balls and one red power ball is drawn from a set of 35 numbered balls.
