PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A man was hospitalized with burns he suffered in a house fire Saturday evening.
The fire started around 5:45 p.m. at a house in the 9000 block of Southwest Barbur Boulevard.
When firefighters arrived they said the wood frame structure was engulfed in flames. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
Firefighters found a man sitting outside of the house and paramedics rushed him to the hospital with burns on about 20 percent of his body. He is expected to survive.
The house is a total loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
A Portland fire rehab unit also responded to the fire to provide firefighters with extra air bottles and to ensure they had access to adequate hydration due to the warm temperatures.
