VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -
Vancouver police arrested an 18-year-old man on a charge of attempted murder Monday after an overnight shooting.
This after the SWAT team stormed a Vancouver duplex Monday morning, looking for shooting suspect Jeremy Pina.
Police officers believed Pina may have been hiding in the duplex in the 2000 block of Markle Avenue.
Officers repeatedly used loud speakers, demanding the suspect come out with his hands up. After several hours, they used flash bangs and tear gas to gain entry into the home. Police say the suspect was not inside.
A short time later, officers detained a man walking on a nearby street, and police later identified Pina as the suspect.
Officers were initially called to the 2200 block of Lincoln Avenue around midnight on reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said the victim was rushed to a hospital. He is expected to survive.
Witnesses told police they saw the suspect ride off on a bicycle.
Police consider the incident gang-related.
The Vancouver Police Department's Safe Streets Task Force is asking anyone who was in the area of the 2000 block of Lincoln Avenue, Markle Road or Kaufman Avenue from midnight to 4 a.m. and who may have information about the investigation to call (360) 487-7412.
