Inner tuber dies in jet ski accident

POLK COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A man riding on an inner tube died when the jet ski pulling him made a wide turn at Wallace Marine Park, sending the inner tube onto the rocks on the west side of the Willamette River Sunday.

Polk County sheriff's deputies said the accident happened about three-quarter-of-a-mile up river from Wallace Marine Park around 7:45 p.m.

Deputies said 38-year-old Enrique Salinas' brother was driving the jet ski at the time of the crash. His brother immediately stopped to help, while a friend drove the jet ski back to a boat ramp to notify deputies.

Marine patrol deputies quickly went to the crash scene, and then took Salinas back to Wallace Marine Park where paramedics were waiting.

The boat ramp was shut down while deputies investigated the death. They determined Salinas' brother took the turn too wide.
