A train is believed to have triggered a fire that burned an acre of brush near Heron Lakes Golf Course in north Portland.
Firefighters were called to the scene just after 3 a.m. Sunday.
The initial crews called for more help after discovering the fire was moving quickly across the dry grass and brush.
There was also concern that dry, gusty winds would cause the fire to dramatically increase in size.
Portland firefighters called all five of their brush units to help control the fire.
They received help from maintenance workers at the golf course and a firefighting train from the Burlington Northern Railroad.
The crews were able to contain the fire to about an acre in size within an hour of their arrival.
Investigators said the fire is believed to have been caused by a passing train.
Nobody was hurt.
