FOREST GROVE, OR (KPTV) -
Police are conducting a death investigation in Forest Grove after a woman's body was found inside her apartment Monday morning.
A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told Fox 12 she called police after finding the woman's body around 10:15 a.m. She said the woman's boyfriend asked her to check on his girlfriend, saying he suspected she was dead.
Forest Grove police officers who responded were not able to tell how she died.
An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday morning. In the meantime, police have launched a full investigation.
For much of the day, crime scene tape surrounded the apartment building on the 2500 block of 21st avenue. A police officer sat outside while detectives looked around inside the woman's apartment.
According to neighbors, the woman's boyfriend left with police. Neighbors say he returned to the apartment for a short time Monday night, after investigators left the neighborhood.
Capt. Aaron Ashbaugh would not comment on whether or not they questioned him, but said questioning would be routine in an investigation like this.
At this point, police have not called the death suspicious.
Danette Grossman, who lives in the same apartment complex, said the woman was always very friendly.
"Normally, she would just [say] 'Hi Danette,' with a bubbly smile and everything," said Grossman. "She would ask me if I was working on my tan.... Was just bubbly like that. Never guessed that this would be happening."
The woman had a daughter in her late teens or early twenties, according to neighbors.
