Body found in Columbia River identified

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Officials have identified the body found in the Columbia River on Sunday near Longview, WA.

The Cowlitz County Corner's office says he is Andres Staples. He is the man who fell overboard from the Sternwheeler last Tuesday.

Crew members from the Queen of the West called the Coast Guard at about 1:10 a.m. on Aug. 7 while docked in Rainier.

Investigators said the man fell off the back of the boat while it was moored at the dock. Witnesses said they saw the man surface once before they lost sight of him.

Investigators said he lived and work on the ship.
