MIAMI, FL (KPTV) -
A man accused of going on a crime spree in 27 states, including Oregon and Washington, is now behind bars.
Investigators said Michael Pollara hit 139 Toys "R" Us stores, stealing everything from toys to Christmas ornaments.
Pollara allegedly selected large boxes that contained cheaper items, emptied the boxes and replaced them with more expensive toys, like Leap Pads and games.
Detectives said he then sold the stolen merchandise on eBay, bringing in nearly $1 million.
Sgt. Rich Rossman from the Broward County Sheriff's Office told Fox 12, "He's been stealing like this every day for 10 years. For 10 years this is what he's done...He was proud of it. This is his job. I go to work at the Sheriff's Office. He goes to work and steals."
Investigators in Florida caught up with Pollara when they said he tried to steal a pricey Harry Potter Lego set.
