PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A camera was rolling as a boat slammed into a kayaker on the Willamette River.
Now, the man on the kayak is hoping video of the collision will send a message to boaters.
Michael Rischer posted the video on YouTube. The incident in the video happened in May, but then he said it happened again this week.
Each time, he was lucky not to end up badly hurt.
Rischer said he was fishing from his kayak, anchored in the river as far out of the channel as he could get.
He said he heard a boat approaching fairly quickly from behind. He looked at the fisherman onboard the boat, who didn't seem to notice him.
At the last second, the driver of the boat swerved, avoiding a serious crash by only inches.
Rischer hopes people see the video and remember to be aware on the river, especially watching out for smaller boats, kayaks or people floating in the water.
