Aug. 9 to be known as ‘Boring and Dull Day’ in Clackamas Co.

BORING, OR (KPTV) -

Clackamas County commissioners have proclaimed Aug. 9 "Boring and Dull Day" in perpetuity. They made the proclamation official last Thursday morning with a unanimous yawn and "aye," according to a press release issued Tuesday.

The day recognizes the unofficial "sister city" relationship between Boring, OR, and Dull, Scotland. The proclamation states that Boring and Dull are a "pair for the ages," according to Steven Bates, chair of the Boring Community Planning Organization.

The idea of pairing the cities was sparked earlier this year by a Scottish tourist who happened to be cycling through Boring. She immediately sent a message to a friend who lives in Dull. The tourist later reached out to Bates, who worked to solidify the partnership. He said that since the two communities are not cities, the relationship would be "unofficially official."
