CJ the chimp heads to Bend sanctuary

LAS VEGAS (KPTV) -

A chimp who caused chaos in Las Vegas over the summer is heading to her new home in Bend, OR.

CJ's name stands for Calamity Jane. She's been at a private compound since her latest escape.

CJ has had a traumatic month. She's escaped into a Las Vegas neighborhood twice. And her chimp friend Buddy was shot and killed during the first escape.

Now the animal will spend the rest of her life with seven other primates at Chimps Incorporated in Bend.

The sanctuary helps animals live a fuller and more natural life.
