NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) -
Newberg-Dundee police arrested a wanted felon accused of running from a traffic stop Tuesday night, investigators said.
According to a news release, an officer tried to stop Ryan Crossley, 44, during a traffic stop about 7 p.m. when Crossley ran from his vehicle into a nearby wooded area.
Officers and deputies said they searched the rural area unsuccessfully for about three hours that evening.
The following day, investigators said they were able to determine that Crossley was staying in a rural Newberg home. Officers said they were able to get two females and a child out of the home safely, and determined that Crossley was still inside and was armed.
Based on that information, the Oregon State Police Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) was called to the scene at approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
According to investigators, members of the OSP SWAT team were able to convince Crossley to exit the residence about 5:30 p.m. where he was taken into custody without incident.
Crossley faces several criminal charges, including attempting to elude a police officer, and interfering with a peace officer, detectives said.
He was taken to the Yamhill County Jail on $35,000 bail.
