HAZEL DELL, WA (KPTV) -
A man and woman are facing attempted murder charges, after deputies said they setup and then brutally attacked a man who responded to an ad on Craigslist.
Clark County deputies said the 52-year-old victim communicated with a woman on the website who identified herself as a prostitute named "Karizma."
They agreed to meet at the man's Hazel Dell home late Tuesday night.
Investigators said the woman showed up, but stated she needed to go to her car to get something.
That's when deputies said a man entered the victim's bedroom and began beating him with a blunt object like a pipe, causing significant injuries to his head and hands.
The victim was able to grab a gun and the suspects left.
The man said the woman was there while the assault took place.
Deputies were called to the scene at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Later in the day, detectives arrested Danielle Azevedo, 24, of Salmon Creek, and Jacob Diepenbrock, 40, of Aloha.
They are facing charges of attempted murder and robbery. Diepenbrock was also charged with burglary.
The victim suffered a concussion and is in serious condition at the hospital. Deputies said he is expected to make a full recovery.
According to court documents, Azevedo told detectives that Diepenbrock is her boyfriend and was advertising her as a prostitute without her knowledge.
She said Diepenbrock used her cell phone to send messages and setup a meeting with the victim.
The documents show she told investigators Diepenbrock is having severe financial issues and came up with a plan to "roll" a victim for money.
Diepenbrock invoked his right to an attorney and was not asked any questions and did not make any statements to investigators.
Deputies are concerned these suspects have done this before using the "women seeking men" ads on Craigslist.
