GRANTS PASS, OR (KPTV) -
Ralph Laurence Boles, 72, was found dead in a field. Now police are trying to find anyone that may be related to him.
Boles' remains were discovered in July at what appeared to be a transient camp just outside of Grants Pass. Inside a nearby backpack, investigators found a social security card and military identification suggesting the body was Boles. There was no evidence to suggest that his death was suspicious.
After a background check, police learned about Boles' past by checking police reports from around the country. Oregon State Patrol said they believe he was a transient, and over the past 40 years, made his way through several states. Police know that he at least passed through Idaho, Utah, California and Montana. They also believe Boles used the railroads for much of his traveling.
So far, all leads have been exhausting the in the search for his next of kin. OSP is asking anyone who may have information leading to the discovery of Boles' family to call.
