Oregon State Police troopers are investigating the death of a man and a dog that happened early Sunday morning on Interstate 205 near Gladstone.
Troopers said a man was driving in the northbound lanes near milepost eleven at about 3 a.m.
The car hit something in the left-hand lane so the driver pulled over, according to investigators.
Troopers said the driver realized he hit a body, and a dog that the man was holding also died.
Investigators also said they got a call about one minute earlier from a driver who reported seeing a man laying in the road.
Troopers were not able to get to that location before the crash happened.
It is still unclear if the man was dead when the first call was made. Investigators also said it is possible that the man was laying in the road on purpose.
The driver who hit the man was not hurt.
Troopers plan to release the drivers name on Sunday, and the dead man's name following next-of-kin notifications.
