PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Five people were rescued Sunday after reports of an explosion on a ski boat in Portland.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. on the Willamette River, just south of the Sellwood Bridge.
As rescue boats reached the ski boat, they reported there was no fire or explosion. All five people on board declined medical attention.
The driver of the boat said a large wake from another boat overwhelmed the ski boat, causing it to sink.
Crews said the boat's stern was sitting on the bottom, but there were no environmental hazards, such as leaking fluids.
The Coast Guard says it will be up to the boat owner to remove the boat from the river.
