12-year-old girl from The Dalles drowns in reservoir

THE DALLES, OR (KPTV) -

Search crews recovered the body of a 12-year-old girl from the Pine Hollow Reservoir in Wasco County over the weekend.

Sheriff's deputies said Fanney Garcia of The Dalles drowned Friday.

She had been out swimming with her little sister on the north side of the lake when witnesses noticed the girls starting to have some trouble.

They were able to pull the 5-year-old from the water but told authorities they couldn't reach Fanney.

Deputies arrived at the scene around 7:30 p.m.

They didn't find her body her until the next morning.
