PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Portland police released video Monday that partially shows an officer-involved shooting that led to the death of a robbery and shooting suspect.
Billy Simms was shot and killed by Officer Justin Clary on July 28. After police said Simms shot at another car while he was driving in the area, officers came across him at a 7-Eleven store in north Portland.
They said he got in the car, started it and drove out of the lot. That's when the officer fired his gun.
The car crossed North Fessenden Street and crashed into an unoccupied unit in an apartment building.
Simms was killed.
In addition to being a suspect in a road rage investigation, Simms was suspected of an armed robbery at a marijuana grow house the week prior. His family said he had recently graduated from rehab.
A Multnomah County grand jury said the shooting was justified.
