After decades on the run, a man finally appeared in a Portland courtroom to face charges for two murders dating back to the 1970s.
Jeffrey Cutlip confessed to killing two women, according to investigators.
In July, Cutlip called Portland police from Brownsville, TX, and confessed to killing Marlene Carlson in 1975. Carlson was found strangled in her southwest Portland apartment.
Police said Cutlip also confessed to killing Julie Bennett in 1977. The 15-year-old's body was found in Johnson Creek two days after she disappeared.
