Tire failure blamed for motorcycle crash

NEAR ROOSEVELT, WA (KPTV) -

One person died and another was hurt in a motorcycle crash near Roosevelt, WA.

Washington State Patrol says the crash happened 13 miles east of Roosevelt on Monday afternoon.

They say the motorcycle was heading west on SR14 when the rear tire failed, causing the motorcycle to go over the right side of the road.

Authorities say the motorcycle driver, George Edwards, was rushed to the hospital with multiple broken ribs and the passenger, Gloria Edwards, didn't survive after she was thrown from the bike.

The cause is still under investigation.
