PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A man who parked his SUV at the Cathedral Park boat ramp in north Portland likely won't forget to use the emergency brake again.
Multnomah County deputies said the man's SUV rolled into the Willamette River at about 5 a.m. Thursday.
After parking the SUV, he realized he forgot to set the e-brake, but it was too late as the SUV drifted into the river.
The sheriff's office dive team and river patrol deputies responded and confirmed there was no one inside the SUV.
The SUV itself, which floated a short distance downstream and came to rest on top of pilings in the water, will be recovered from the water by a salvage company. It is not blocking boat ramp access.
Deputies said alcohol wasn't a factor in the mishap and no citations were issued.
