PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A man put a gun to the back of a bar worker in Southeast Portland Thursday morning and demanded entry into the safe.
The worker told the gunman she couldn't open it and he punched her in the head.
Police said it all went down at 8 a.m. at the Lucky Spot restaurant and bar at 14919 SE Stark St.
The worker said she was counting cigarettes when a man walked in with a rag over his face.
She motioned for him to pull it down before she realized what was about to happen.
"It just hit me right then and there, right after I said those words, 'you need to pull your mask down, your rag down,'" she said. "It just hit me, I was being robbed again."
The victim said the man pointed the gun at her and ordered her to open the safe.
She told the man she didn't have access to do that.
"I told him you can have the money in the till, that's all I have," she said. "I don't have any other money. I can't open the safe."
She said the man cleaned out the cash register and again demanded she open the safe.
The victim said he then told her, "Don't make me hurt you."
Then the man punched her in the ear and walked out of the business.
"He just walked out like nothing," she said. "Didn't even run. Walked slow."
Police said the suspect is a black man, 35 years old, between 5'7" and 5'9" tall with a chunky build. He was wearing a black hat, gray clothes and black shoes with a rag or mask over his face.
The victim said it also looked like he was wearing a wig with long hair.
One person has been detained, but police are continuing to investigate.
The Lucky Spot worker said she was also robbed in April, but she's not sure if it was the same person.
