Potentially counterfeit bills found near Highway 217

BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

A couple driving toward Highway 217 found what police believe are counterfeit $20 bills.

Hillsboro police said a man and woman were driving on the on-ramp from Farmington Road onto the highway when they spotted money on the side of the road.

They pulled over and picked up the bills, but noticed something wasn't quite right.

When the couple returned home to Hillsboro, they called police to report what they had found.

Officers said the coloring appeared off on the bills and they had a strange texture.

Police have turned the bill over to the Secret Service.
