VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A 13-year-old boy died Saturday after he was pulled from Klineline Pond in Salmon Creek after a near drowning.

Officials say Dimaggio Lee, of Portland, went swimming in the pond on Saturday afternoon, but he never resurfaced.

When medical crews arrived, they found Lee in the water and he was quickly rushed to Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital, where he died.

A family friend told FOX 12 that Lee was at the park with other family members who were there for a family reunion.

"The family was gathered and there was family at the pavilion eating and socializing and the kids went swimming," said Tina Moon, who was attending the family reunion. "That's when a family member came running back and said he didn't come up from the water. We all ran to the water and there were people searching for him already. More family jumped in and they found him and he was in pretty deep water at that point."
