EUGENE, OR (KPTV) -

Breathe a little easier, Oregon Ducks fans. Your football team did not just suffer a shocking loss to UCLA.

An Associated Press story mistakenly published to hundreds of news websites Monday carried a headline of "Bruins stun Oregon 21-20."

"Bob Jones threw three touchdown passes, including the game-winner with 10 seconds left, as UCLA stunned Oregon 21-20 on Saturday night," the story said.

Problem is, the Ducks did not play UCLA in college football on Saturday night. In fact, the college football season doesn't start until Thursday. And the two teams won't even play each other this season unless they meet in the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Shortly after the story was submitted, the Associated Press sent out a note to its news partners, saying the story was prepared as a test story during a training session and was not meant to be published online. Many websites around the country have feeds automatically publishing Associated Press stories.

Oregon opens the season Saturday when it hosts Arkansas State at Autzen Stadium.

UCLA plays against Rice on Thursday in Houston.
