Southern Oregon wildfire 100 percent contained

LAKEVIEW, OR (KPTV) -

A wildfire that burned more than 93,000 acres in southern Oregon and California is now 100 percent contained.

The Barry Point Fire was started by lightning on Aug. 6 about 22 miles southwest of Lakeview. It eventually crossed the border into California.

On Tuesday, firefighters announced full containment.

Firefighters continue to mop up the edges, cooling down all hot spots that could become a threat to the fire line should weather conditions change.

People living in the area will continue to see smoke within the fire's perimeter, but several large fires burning in California are the major contributors to any smoke seen in the region.

Even though the fire is now contained, area and road closures in California and Oregon are still in effect to ensure safety as crews continue to work in the area.

No buildings were destroyed by the fire.
