Baker City soldier killed in Afghanistan

BAKER CITY, OR (KPTV) -

An Oregon soldier was killed during combat in Afghanistan.

Spc. Mabry J. Anders of Baker City died Monday in Kalagush.

The Department of Defense said he was killed from injuries suffered during enemy fire.

Anders was 21 years old.

He was one of two soldiers killed in the attack.

Sgt. Christopher J. Birdwell, 25, of Windosor, CO, also died Monday.

They were assigned to the 4th Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, CO.
