PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

TriMet is making some big changes starting Sept. 1.

The agency is eliminating all fare zones, including the free rail zone, and raising most fares.

That means a valid fare will be required to ride MAX in downtown Portland and the Lloyd District.

Beginning Saturday, a two-hour adult ticket will cost $2.50. An adult pass with unlimited rides will remain $5.

A seven-day adult pass will cost $26.

A seven-day youth pass is a new option and will cost $8. A two-hour youth ticket will be $1.65 starting Saturday, while the youth pass with unlimited rides is dropping in cost to $3.30.

For those who qualify for the "honored citizens" pass, the prices will either remain the same or drop.

Other changes will begin Sept. 2, including two new MAX stations opening at PSU and the reconfiguring of 17 bus lines.

For a list of all the changes, go to TriMet's website.
