The Coast Guard may have saved the life of a fisherman who started experiencing chest pain at sea.
A helicopter crew based in Astoria responded to distress calls from the crew of a fishing boat about 70 miles west of Pacific City. Once on scene, a rescue swimmer was lowered to the vessel to retrieve the man. After he was successfully hoisted into the chopper, he was flown to back to Astoria and put into the care of local EMS.
We're told he was conscious as they flew him to a hospital.
