Human remains identified near Roseburg

ROSEBURG, OR (KPTV) -

Douglas County detectives have tentatively identified the remains of a woman found on property owned by a timber company.

Human remains were discovered on June 30 on private property owned by Seneca Jones Timber Company on Coos Bay Wagon Road west of Roseburg.

During searches of the area, investigators discovered evidence including clothing.

Investigators believe the remains are Deborah Schneider, 55, of Myrtle Creek.

She had stated she was checking herself into an alcohol treatment center when she disappeared in the spring of 2010.

A positive identification is pending DNA processing which could take several months.

The case is still being investigated as a homicide.
