ST. HELENS, OR (KPTV) -
A massive fire that destroyed the Les Schwab Tire Center in St. Helens was not caused by arson.
Investigators have ruled out arson in this case, according to Columbia River Fire & Rescue.
Firefighters said it also doesn't appear to be a carelessly set fire of any type, but they have not yet been able to determine the exact cause.
The total loss estimate is around $1 million.
The fire started Aug. 24 and quickly sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky. The fire shut down Highway 30 in the area and affected the Hood to Coast Relay event.
Investigators are now examining photos from the scene and awaiting the results of tests from evidence samples that are still being processed.
