PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A Portland man drowned in the Columbia River after he lost control of his Jet Ski.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office was called out to Collins Beach on Sauvie Island to reports of a man who was pulled from the water.

Deputies believe Scott Ankron, 39, was too impaired to survive the fall off his Sea-Doo watercraft.

The deputies were called to the river just before 6 p.m. after Ankron had been pulled ashore after he was found floating in the water.

Medics attempted to perform CPR but Ankron did not survive.

Witnesses told deputies Ankron was highly intoxicated while operating the watercraft.

Officials did find evidence of alcoholic beverages and marijuana that they believe contributed to Ankron's death.

They're treating this as an accidental drowning and no criminal charges are expected to be filed.
