NEAR DETROIT LAKE, OR (KPTV) -

Bones found by hunters in a remote area off Highway 22 on Saturday are being sent to the Oregon Medical Examiner's Office for examination.

The skeletal remains were discovered in the Santiam Canyon near Niagara Falls Park and Detroit Lake.

Marion County investigators said they believe the remains are those of a human, but they haven't determined the identity of the person.

The last search in the area for remains were connected to the murder of a Bend woman. Investigators do not yet know if the remains are linked to that case.

Steven Blaylock, of Bend, was found guilty last fall of killing his wife Lori and dumping her body in a river.

At first, Blaylock told investigators that his wife walked away from their home and never came back. He later admitted to the murder, but Lori Blaylock's body was never found.

Anyone who may have information that could help in the case is asked to e-mail Detective Mike Myers at mmyers@co.marion.or.us or call 503-540-8079.
