KLAMATH FALLS, OR (KPTV) -
State troopers pulled over a woman suspected of driving under the influence Friday and soon learned the woman was a serial bank robber known as the panda bandit, police said.
Troopers stopped Jennifer Langwell, of Hillsboro, in Klamath Falls after getting a complaint of erratic driving involving Langwell's 2005 Hyundai Elantra just before midnight.
A check on Langwell's background quickly revealed she was wanted on a felony warrant held by the FBI, accusing her of bank robbery.
They also discovered she was carrying a small amount of cocaine and methamphetamine.
In addition to local charges of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance, Langwell is likely to be charged with robbery in connection with the following crimes:
- A robbery Aug. 30 at the U.S. Bank at 7300 SW Terwiliger Blvd. in Portland. She wore a red sweater, a dark-colored wig and black sunglasses.
- A robbery Aug. 29 at the U.S. Bank on Northwest 188th Avenue in Hillsboro. She wore a dark blue sweatshirt.
- A robbery July 11 at the Wells Fargo Bank on Southwest 182nd Avenue in Aloha. She wore a baggy gray sweatshirt and carried a red purse, plus a black cap that read "FBI" on the front.
- A robbery July 10 at the U.S. Bank at 19091 SW Tualatin Valley Hwy. She wore a Panda face hat.
