SALEM, OR (KPTV) -
Salem police detectives arrested 41-year-old Mark Brown at a Tigard hotel room Tuesday in connection with a fatal shooting outside a Walmart store.
Brown is expected to be booked into the Marion County Jail on a charge of murder.
Officers said 28-year-old Bryan Knorr had just exited the 24-hour Walmart store at 1940 Turner Rd. SE in Salem when he was confronted by Brown in a gold SUV at about 6 a.m. Monday, police said.
Words were exchanged between the two men and Brown opened fire, according to police. Once police and paramedics responded, Knorr was rushed to Salem Hospital, where he died.
Salem police detectives said it appears Brown had been waiting for Knorr outside the store, which was open at the time of the shooting.
Detectives quickly released a description of a vehicle of interest in the crime - a gold Honda SUV or CRV, with a white temporary registration mounted in the rear window, plus a blue placard mounted where the license plate is normally displayed.
There's no word yet on how Brown and Knorr knew each other. Salem police said they're not releasing any information about the shooting.
