WOODLAND, WA (KPTV) -
A Woodland woman said nearly $100,000 worth of rare and antique coins were stolen from her garage.
Sharen Waldron said those coins mean a lot to her because they were collected by her mother decades ago.
Fifteen boxes of rare and commemorative coins were once stacked away in the garage, Waldron said. The coins were gold and silver, some dating back to the 1700s, and all of them had been collected by her mother and passed on to her.
"They mean everything to me. My mother worked so hard on these coins. She worked every day on this collection," Waldron said.
Two of the rare coins were an Abraham Lincoln presidential campaign token and a Morgan Silver-Dollar.
Waldron said she still remembers watching her mom collect and sift through all the coins.
"I can't tell you how much she scrimped and saved," Waldron said. "They have no idea of how my mother struggled to get all that."
It wasn't until Waldron's son knocked over one of the boxes a couple of months ago that they realized they were all empty.
Waldron believes a couple she hired to help her do work around the house may be responsible, but police can't confirm that.
"I wasn't holding them for any monetary value for me. I was just holding them for my grandchildren and now I don't have anything to give them," Waldron said.
Anyone with information should call Woodland Police Detective Dave Plaza at 360-225-6965.
A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the persons responsible.
