PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A man from India will serve more than two years in prison for trying to smuggle ephedrine and forfeit $2 million.
Fabian Samuel, of India, made a plea deal and will serve 26 months in prison. He will also forfeit a $2 million cashier's check.
Between 2007 and 2009, Samuel and five others illegally imported 50 shipments of mislabeled ephedrine-based products into the U.S. The drugs were further smuggled into Mexico to be made into meth.
