TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -
Firefighters are investigating a fire that damaged four apartments in Tigard.
The fire broke out at the St. James apartment complex on SW Hall Boulevard at around 1:45 Friday morning.
When crews from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue arrived, they found two second-story balconies fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters started attacking the fire from the outside while crews searched the inside to make sure everyone was safely out of the building.
They prevented the fire from spreading to nearby units.
The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes. Four of the apartments were damaged and seven people were displaced. The Oregon Red Cross is helping the families affected.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
