BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -
Police believe some drivers need to be reminded that school is back in session.
Beaverton police officers were out Friday morning looking for drivers who speed through school zones and ignore school buses.
The speed limit in school zones is 20 mph between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days or anytime a yellow light is flashing on a school speed sign.
Drivers must also stop for buses when their red safety lights are flashing.
Police said there is a common misconception that drivers in opposing lanes don't have to stop for buses. That only applies, however, when there is a physical median dividing the lanes.
