VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A woman accused of throwing her boyfriend's dog into traffic will spend seven months behind bars.

Shellie Hubbard was sentenced to prison today, with 52 days credit for time served.

She pleaded guilty to charges of assault, animal cruelty and possession of meth on Aug. 30.

Washington State Patrol said the woman and her boyfriend were arguing in their car last December.

The couple eventually pulled over and police said Hubbard tossed the dog out of the car.

The animal was hit and killed trying to cross Interstate 205 near Northeast Padden Parkway in Vancouver.

Hubbard was also sentenced to one year of probation. She is not allowed to have any future contact with dog's owner and is prohibited from owning any animals for five years.
