
A 24-year-old Dallas man died in a single-vehicle crash near Dallas, OR, this morning.
Oregon State Police said the crash happened around 1 a.m. along Highway 223 near Southeast Fir Villa Road.
State troopers said Byron E. Moore, 24, from Dallas, was traveling eastbound on Highway 223 when his vehicle traveled onto the shoulder causing him to lose control.
Troopers said the vehicle went into a ditch and became airborne before resting in the front yard of a home.
Moore was taken to a Salem hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Officials identified the passenger as Mitchell B. Johnson, 24, from Dallas.
They said he was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car and died in the crash.
State police said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
The investigation continues and charges could be pending.
