CORBETT, OR (KPTV) -
A fire tore through a barn in Corbett Monday.
Firefighters were called out to Northeast Ogden Road and Mershon Road just before noon.
They arrived to find the barn fully engulfed and determined it would be safest to take a defensive stance.
That means no firefighters were allowed to enter the structure. They tried to control the fire from the outside and prevent it from spreading to any nearby buildings.
The 4,000-square-foot barn was destroyed. The shipment of hay inside it had arrived only two weeks ago, according to firefighters.
A pile of hay outside the barn also caught fire.
Crews did stop the fire from spreading to a farmhouse about 150 feet away.
The cause is under investigation, but firefighters said it is not considered suspicious at this time.
