West Linn police arrested a Springfield woman on Monday suspected of leading Oregon State Police troopers on a high-speed chase from Woodburn to West Linn.

Brittany Chapman, 22, faces charges including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felony attempt to elude in a vehicle, reckless driving, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

At 2:52 a.m. on Monday, troopers tried to stop a BMW headed northbound on Interstate 5 near Woodburn.

Instead of pulling over, investigators said the driver took off, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph.

Clackamas County deputies joined OSP troopers in the chase, but they lost sight of the car on Interstate 205.

A West Linn police officer later found it abandoned near Mary S. Young State Park about 3:20 a.m.

A canine helped search the area, but officers didn't find the driver of the car that was reported stolen Sunday afternoon from the Springfield-area.

Evidence found near the abandoned BMW indicated the driver may be Chapman, police said.

After the car was towed from the scene, at approximately 7:19 a.m., a West Linn detective saw a woman walking about 200 feet from where the car was abandoned.

The officer detained the woman, identified as Chapman, and she was taken to the West Linn Police Department.

She was arrested after a follow-up investigation, detectives told FOX 12.

When she was being lodged at the jail, an intake deputy found a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue in her purse, police said.
