SISTERS, OR (KPTV) -
The 4,300-acre Pole Creek Fire burning near the Central Oregon town of Sisters remained zero percent contained Tuesday, officials said.
Authorities don't know the cause of the wildfire, which started Sunday morning and is producing a massive smoke plume about six miles southwest of Sisters. No injuries have been reported.
No homes or buildings are being threatened, and no evacuations have been ordered, but firefighters said four vehicles have been destroyed and several others were damaged.
Winds on Tuesday are expected to be around 9 mph with 20 mph gusts possible. Central Oregon-based KTVZ reports fire managers told community members that colder weather and a shift in wind will help push the wildfire away from Sisters.
On Monday, crews were able to construct and establish containment lines on portions of the fire. Overnight, firefighters patrolled the fire perimeter for spot fires outside fire lines.
As of Monday evening, 12 water tenders, four helicopters, five dozers and four type 2 firefighting crews are in use to battle the blaze. Many more resources have been ordered, officials said.
The Three Creeks Campground, plus Forest Service roads 15 and 16 are closed for safety reasons.
