PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Portland Trail Blazers guard Elliot Williams will have surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon.
General Manager Neil Olshey made the announcement.
He said Williams, 23, sustained the injury during voluntary workouts at the team's practice facility on Tuesday.
A date for the surgery has not been set.
Williams played his final game last season on March 7 because of a left shoulder injury that required surgery.
He also missed the entire 2010-2011 season after having surgeries on both knees.
A timetable for his return to the court will be determined after his latest surgery.
The Blazers selected Williams with the 22nd overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
