An Idaho couple is headed to prison after scamming an elderly couple out of thousands of dollars, and deputies think the couple may have had more victims.
Anthony Montwheeler and Anita Harmon-Montwheeler ran Northwest Materials Management Services, a scrap metal company in Weiser, ID. The business also operated in Washington and eastern Oregon, advertising itself as a scrap metal hauling service.
The couple was convicted of theft after doing some work for an elderly couple who wanted metal removed from their property. The Montwheelers carted away about 250 tons of scrap metal but paid the victims less than half of what it was worth. They shorted those victims more than $10,000.
Since the Montwheelers' convictions, more victims have come forward with similar reports, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office. Deputies ask any other potential victims to contact the sheriff's office.
