PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
One of the top universities in the region is in Portland.
U.S. News & World Report has ranked the University of Portland as part of its 2013 America's Best Colleges publication.
The north Portland school is ranked sixth out of 121 institutions in the "Regional Universities - West" classification.
The category includes colleges that offer a broad scope of undergraduate degrees and some master's programs. However, the institutions on the list offer few, if any, doctoral programs.
U.S. News judged the schools based on peer assessment, student retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources earmarked for education purposes and an institution's annual bachelor's degree alumni giving rate.
The University of Portland has been in the top 10 on this list for 18 consecutive years.
George Fox University in Newberg and Pacific University in Forest Grove both came in tied at 23rd on the same list.
In separate rankings for "Regional Colleges - West," two Oregon schools also finished in the top 10.
Corban University in Salem ranked eighth on the list, while the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls claimed the 10th spot.
